'Adding Years to Life and Life to Years' - this is the strap-line of WCC; it aims to deliver:
- better health and well being to all
- better care for all
- better value for all
For more information, see the briefings below or go to the WCC website.
PBC involves the transfer of many health service commissioning responsibilities, along with the associated indicative budget, to primary care health professionals who will determine the range of services to be provided for their population with the PCT acting as their agent to undertake any required procurements and to carry out administrative tasks to underpin these processes.
Community pharmacies are ideally placed to deliver elements of new patient care pathways, particularly for those with long-term conditions requiring improved access to the management of their medicines and monitoring parameters. Early potential wins include dermatology, respiratory conditions and diabetes. The LPC is working hard with commissioners to ensure that pharmacy has the opportunity to be at the table when service redesign of care pathways is undertaken; it needs local pharmacists to make the contacts at the locality level.
- Find out what is going on at a local level by talking to the LPC.
- Get involved with your Local Pharmacy Group and support the engagement with comissioning groups.
- Build relationships with your local GP practice and other local community pharmacists.
