Context
Identified as one of the major pharmacy priorities workstreams of the National Public Health Leadership Forum, a Healthy Living Pharmacy (HLP) framework is currently being developed by NHS Portsmouth supported by Hampshire & Isle of Wight LPC.
What is a healthy living pharmacy?
Your local pharmacy with better facilities, more services and a commitment to improving health and wellbeing in your community.
What can you expect from Portsmouth’s healthy living pharmacies?
• A wide range of health services • Welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable staff • Private rooms for discussing personal issues • Up-to-date technology to ensure you get the best possible treatment • Your local NHS working together for you • Information on keeping well and healthy
All community pharmacies in Portsmouth are being offered the opportunity to commit to becoming a healthy living pharmacy during 2010/11. The PCT is working with Hampshire and Isle of Wight LPC and other local stakeholders to develop and implement a framework and to help support pharmacies to boost their role in helping customers improve and maintain their health.
Eight Portsmouth pharmacies have now been accredited as Healthy Living Pharmacies
Many local pharmacies are already offering some of the additional services that will become part of the framework such as stop smoking, healthy weight management and minor ailments services.
HLP newsletters and other information is available below and a prospectus detailing the current framework (continualy evolving) is available to download from the NHS Portsmouth website. All queries concerning this page and its content should be directed to Deborah Evans.
