Supply problems close to home

I can’t believe this is the last day of the year. We have had a full house since the 22nd and they are all beginning to leave. As much as I love them all it is nice to get off the cooking, washing, clearing up treadmill. Only the university student left now and as we all know the holidays are twice as long as the terms and while she is here enjoying the party season I am still funding that empty student room in London!!

In case you are worried that this blog entry is distinctly lacking in a pharmacy theme, be patient. My elderly mum came to stay with us and when I took her back home we went to pick up her prescription only to find that one of the items was out of stock and no sign of it being available any time soon. Understandably my mum assumes that her two children, a GP and a Pharmacist, can fix anything to do with health and drugs and this was no exception.  Now whilst my brother can prescribe to his heart’s content he can’t actually deliver the goods. All I needed was a blackberry and the help of all those lovely Hampshire and IOW pharmacists. Within 24 hours my mum had her medicine thanks to a very helpful independent contractor in Southampton, thanks Phil. Beat that Bro!

And before the letters of concern come in, I have my mum’s consent to tell you this but I can only get away with calling her elderly as she doesn’t have a computer so there is no chance of her finding out. Happy New Year one and all.
