TripAdvisor for GPs

Is NHS Choices the equivalent of TripAdvisor for the NHS, bringing with it all the downsides of providing a forum for moaning? I saw Nigel Watson, the Chief Executive of the Wessex LMC on the One Show last night  and he made a very good point;  if you have a bad experience or something doesn’t  go well when you visit  your GP, leaving on-line feedback will not resolve the problem so much better to raise your concern directly with the practice. At the moment NHS Choices only allow you to leave comments about your GP, Dentist or Hospital but that is going to change to include pharmacies and opticians at some point.

Having friends in the Hotel industry where TripAdvisor can make or break a small business, it is a worry. We are all guilty of giving more weight to a negative comment than a positive one and I put my hand up to checking out the bad feedback when purchasing from that well known on-line shopping emporium reminiscent of a South American jungle. And of course it is so much easier to vent your feelings on-line, from your own home after a nice glass of wine than look someone in the eye and make a complaint.
